The Western
Maryland, affectionately knicknamed "Wild Mary" by
railfans, first started using the bold Speed Lettering
scheme during the late steam/early diesl era. Many of
these cars lasted well into the "Chessie System" which
began in 1972. We are very pleased to offer these as
BLW exclusives! Features AccuMate trucks/couplers. Click

InterMountain
has released #65760 - Western Maryland 40' Boxcar. Please
note there is no "Reporting Letters" above the road #.
This is the paint scheme as first painted in 7/46 -- "early"
paint scheme. InterMountain offers 6 unique rd #'s: 28501,
28587, 28648, 28725, 28792 and 28800. Please note the BLW
version shown below -- it has the "WM" lettering above
the road #. WM soon added the "WM" lettering in the early
50's -- this is the scheme that remained on these cars
through the end of their useful service.
